From Ansys to reality

As a formula student team, we rely heavily on simulation tools to design and optimize the performance of our race car. That's why we were thrilled to receive free Ansys licenses from our sponsor, Ansys.

Using Ansys, we are able to conduct mechanical finite element simulations, which allow us to analyze the stresses and strains on different components of the car under various loading conditions. This helps us to identify any weaknesses or areas that may need reinforcement, and to make design changes to improve the overall performance and reliability of the vehicle.

One of the key components of our vehicle is the carbon fiber monocoque, which serves as the structural backbone of the car and plays a crucial role in its overall strength and performance.

To ensure that our monocoque meets the necessary specifications and performs at its best, we use Ansys to conduct mechanical finite element simulations. With the help of the Ansys add-on ACP, we are able to analyze the stresses and strains on the monocoque under various loading conditions, taking into account the unique properties of composite materials.

This allows us to identify any weaknesses or areas that may need reinforcement, and to make design changes to improve the overall performance and reliability of the monocoque. It also helps us to optimize the layering and orientation of the carbon fiber to maximize the strength and stiffness of the structure.

Overall, we are extremely grateful for the support and resources provided by Ansys. Their contributions have been invaluable to our team and have helped us to achieve a higher level of success. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Ansys in the future.
